    Getting to Inishturk

    Inishturk Island is located 9 miles off the Mayo coast. The main embarkation point is Roonagh Pier. O'Malleys Ferries operate a daily service to the Island. Please see ferry schedule for details.

    It is also possible to get to Inishturk from Cleggan Pier, Co. Galway via the Inishturk mail boat on Tuesdays & Thursdays only. (subject to change) Please contact J. Heanue (086-2029670)

    Roonagh Pier

    This large modern pier accommodates daily ferry services to Inishturk though these are weather dependent and subject to change in inclement weather conditions.. Visitors to Inishturk should note that on certain days it may be necessary to overnight on the island before catching the ferry back to the mainland the next day.

    Ferry Tickets

    It is always advisable to refer to the ferry company websites or the Discover Ireland Centre in Westport for times of sailings as these are subject to change throughout the year. Tickets can be purchased from O’Malleys Ferries ticket office in the car park prior to departure.

    Journey

    From the large car/coach park opposite the pier you can still see the original stone-built pier which is tidal, though still used by smaller craft. The journey to the island affords the traveller uninterrupted views of this a spectacular Mayo coastline including Croagh Patrick, Achill Island, Mweelrea, the Nephin mountain range and north Connemara.

    Inishturk

    Inishturk is a small beautiful island, 5km x 2.5km, located 9 miles (14.5km) off the west coast of Mayo. It rises boldly from the wild North Atlantic in wall-like cliffs to the northwest and steep hills to the north on which stands the ruins of the old signal tower 688 ft above sea level.
