Our Community Recreation Area is proudly sponsored to-date by:

Community Recreation Area & Playground

In 2020 we were awarded €50,000 from the Department of Rural & Community Development's CLÁR scheme for small-scale rural infrastructure projects. 

Our plan was to develop and multi-generational recreation area. 

Our project began under the direction of the County Parks & Recreation superintendent Peter Gill.

The project went to public procurement and a successful contractor was selected. Construction was completed in July 2022.

The total project cost €80,000 and we are fundraising the remaining €30,000 needed. (please visit our playground fundraiser or fill in the box below)

We are delighted to have received to date a number of sponsorship contributions from local businesses. 

These businesses will be displayed on a sponsorship board at the site

Inishturk Island

Inishturk is a small beautiful island, 5km x 2.5km, located 9 miles (14.5km) off the west coast of Mayo. It rises boldly from the wild North Atlantic in wall-like cliffs to the northwest and steep hills to the north on which stands the ruins of the old signal tower 688 ft above sea level.

Getting Here

The main embarkation point to Inishturk is Roonagh Pier, near Louisburgh, Co. Mayo.
O'Grady's Ferries operate a daily service to the Island.
