Garrett Poynton has been visiting Co. Mayo since childhood. He is a keen fisherman and sailor and in recent years can be see frequently in a traditional gaff rigged sailing boat around Clew Bay and beyond. He had visited Inishturk several times and when the opportunity to join the Board came up was delighted to become a member.
Garrett has been very impressed with the passion and dedication of fellow board members, staff and isladnders and looks forward to working with them to achieve the longer term vision of sustainability, population growth, infrastructure and economic resilience.
Garrett has worked in financial services throughout his career, qualifying as an accountant many years ago and more recently completing master’s qualifications in risk management and then in strategy (focusing on sustainability and digital transformation). He joined the Inishturk board in May 2025 as Treasurer.
