Jack Heanue is a highly respected member of the Inishturk community, known for his lifelong commitment to island life, tradition and heritage. A lifelong island resident, Jack has worked as a fisherman, sheep farmer and for many years as the island’s postman, delivering mail twice weekly and helping to keep the community connected.
Now in his mid-70s, Jack continues to play an active role in community life. He is a member of the Inishturk Heritage Working Group, with a strong passion for preserving and sharing the island’s history, traditions and way of life for future generations.
Jack is also an experienced fishing guide, introducing visitors to the natural beauty of the waters surrounding Inishturk. Through his guiding, he shares deep knowledge of local marine life and the long tradition of lobster fishing on the island, offering a unique insight into both the natural and cultural heritage of Inishturk.
Jack is a member of the Inishturk Community Club Board to support the island’s future and preserve his island home and its traditions.
